Dr. Woodruff (Woody) Emlen
Woody Emlen is a graduate of Stanford University, the University of California (San Diego) School of Medicine and a diplomat of the American College of Internal Medicine and the American College of Rheumatology. He has held faculty positions at the University of Washington and the University of Colorado, most recently as Professor of Medicine and Immunology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. His research focused on autoimmunity and inflammatory diseases. In his early 50s, Dr. Emlen left academics to pursue a career in biotechnology, serving as Vice President for Exploratory Medicine at Connetics Corporation and as one of the founders and Vice President for Scientific Affairs at InterMune. In 2004 he co-founded his own company, Taligen Therapeutics, where he served as CEO for 7 years until the Company’s acquisition in 2011. He is currently retired, serving on the Boards of several early stage Biotechnology companies.
